Looking forward to a full weekend!

Hope everyone is having a great week thus far.

Please remember to be thinking about participating in The Magi Project for Honduras. Also, remember the clothing drive for South Dakota. Both of these projects will be wrapping up near the end of September in order to be able to deliver the boxes and clothes to their respective destinations.

Please pray for our church as we continue to grow and reach out to the community. We live in a place that has great material blessings but also great temptations for people. One of the greatest of these temptations is to believe we are self-sufficient and to forget our great need for God.

Pray for our outreach to the high school this Friday when we feed the football team, cheerleaders and coaching staff.  Please pray that Will's message will be received and considered.

Continue to pray for those affected by the storms on the Gulf Coast.

Look forward to seeing you all this weekend.

Magi Project

Hope everyone is having a great week.

I will be bringing the related brochures and a sample version of a Magi Box to church on Sunday.  Individual families in our congregation are invited to create one (or more) of these boxes for delivery to children living in poverty in Central America.  This project is conducted by the church-sponsored aide organization, Healing Hands International (Magi Website).  Clothing, hygiene and toy items are placed in shoebox-size plastic boxes wrapped in Christmas paper and then delivered to a collection point from where they will be taken overseas.  The cost of filling a box should range between $25-30 and then $7 is to be sent along with it to cover shipping.  All the details will be provided in the printed materials that we will have Sunday or you can get a head start by visiting the website above.  For the price of dinner out, you can bring the joy of Christmas to a child who otherwise may not have any gifts on that special day.  Go ahead and be thinking about contributing one box or more to this project.

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday for worship, fellowship and Bible study!

Congrats to all our members who are involved with DHS athletics for a big win over Westview.  Henry County also won their game and McKenzie and Gleason both begin their seasons next week.  Let's remember to let our lights shine everywhere we go!

In an effort to reach out to the community, our congregation will be sponsoring the team meal before the August 31st football game.  Will plans to give a short devotional to the team.  If you have questions or would like to help, see Stacey Stoker.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday for worship and Bible study.

News from today

Thank you all for allowing me to be back in Alamo to preach a family funeral.  Your willingness to let me juggle two towns and responsibilities in each is a blessing.

After several talks with Will, Jan McClutcheon was baptized this evening. Jan mentioned that she wants to make a new start. As we all know, baptism is a great step in that process. We do not come to Christ because we have it all figured out: we come to Christ because we know we cannot do it on our own. May God bless Jan and all of us as we try to live for Him.

Have a great week!

I know many of you are keeping up with Lebanon news via the Facebook page which is updated several times each week, but here are some items you might have missed.

Mrs. Mildred Crofford was in the hospital earlier in the week, but came home Monday night.  Her bllod pressure needed regulating and her medication was adjusted.  I know many of you send cards to Mrs. Mildred often and she is thankful for these blessings.

Buck Casey, uncle of Roe Nell Hughes, passed away on Thursday.  His funeral will be Sunday afternoon in Alamo.

Several of us were able to attend the meetings at Knob Creek and Hatler's Chapel this week.  Greenfield's meeting was also this week as well.  We are blessed to be in an area with so many faithful congregations.

Please continue to be in prayer about our congregation and its future.  We want to do all we can to be faithful ambassadors for Christ in the community.

We have several members who are undergoing tests and continuing medical treatments.  Please remember these people in prayer.

I am looking forward to being with you Sunday for worship and Bible study.  We will be in Matthew 18 in our adult Bible class and I know Vickie, Sherry and Derrick will have prepared lessons for our young people.  On Sunday evening, we will be continuing our study in Titus.  Sunday morning's lesson will center around the fact that all sinners have a future and all Christians have a past.  Please make Lebanon a part of your week ahead.
